Primary Sump Pump

A Primary Sump Pump is a machine that discharges the water collected by your drain tile system away from your home. When the water level reaches a certain point, the "float switch" engages and turns on the pump. The water is then propelled away from the home's foundation through the discharge pipe.

A Battery Backup Sump Pump's float switch is attached higher than the primary pump. In the event of a power outage or primary pump failure, the float switch on the primary pump will not engage and the water level will rise to the backup pump's float switch engaging it.
